Experience the very best of Central Otago, with a number of exquisite boutique wineries to discover. With some of the worlds most dramatic views, a day in the vineyard won’t disappoint.
Our Barman Tom Morris shares his favorite wineries in the Central Otago Region.
Tom’s recommended top 4:
Gibbston Valley – Gibbston Valley Winery, located in its namesake and coined the ‘Valley of the Vines’ is surrounded by rugged mountains and the rocky Kawarau River gorge.
Mt Difficulty – Mt Difficulty is found at the southern end of the Cromwell basin. Likewise surrounded with panoramic views of the Bannockburn’s dramatic rugged rock and thyme landscape.
Domaine-Thomson – Framed by the Dunstan and Pisa mountain ranges, Domaine-Thomson grow just one variety, a ‘single vineyard’ Surveyor Thomson pinot noir.
Wooing Tree – Wooing Tree is a family owned single vineyard next to the town of Cromwell, nestled in the stunning glacial mountain valley.
To conclude a day in the vines, look no further than our Lombardi Bar and our signature drink experience Pinot Pinot Pinot – a sensory voyage of three extraordinary pinot vintages from the Central Otago region. This tasting flight of pinot noir is a most memorable way to experience the flavours of our place, best enjoyed whilst gazing at the lake and mountains turned red by the setting sun. Priced at just $30 per person.
“My favorite Central Otago wine is the Domaine-Thomson Surveyor Thomson 2015 Vintage because it’s different to other pinot in the region with its complexity and earthiness” – Tom Morris (Barman)
